Stage three of tax cuts will give Australians ‘incentive to work harder’

Newly elected Liberal MP Dave Sharma has defended stage three of his government’s tax cut plan, saying it will give Australians ‘an incentive to work harder and get promoted’. Prime Minister Scott Morrison is warning the Coalition will use every parliamentary weapon available to ensure its three-stage $158 billion personal income tax cut package is passed this week. The member for Wentworth says that under stage three, ’94 per cent of Australian taxpayers will be paying no more than 30 cents in the dollar’. ‘This is really about restoring the proceeds of bracket creep, making sure our tax system remains progressive, encouraging and rewarding working incentive,’ he says.
