Nuclear a ‘viable option’ for zero emissions future

David Paterson says nuclear power is a ‘viable option’ that should be carefully considered if Australia wants to move towards a zero emissions future. The Emergent Advisory founder, a company which coordinates with business to address social and political risks, says ‘a combination of solar, wind, plus nuclear may be the most economic arrangement’. His remarks come after NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro called for a plebiscite for the integration of nuclear power into Australia’s electricity mix. Mr Paterson has told Sky News Mr Barilaro is getting ahead of himself, warning that rushing into a referendum would see the issue politicised. Image: Getty
