US and Japan to expand military ties

US President Donald Trump has thanked American and Japanese troops on the final day of his state visit to Japan. The President joined Prime Minister Abe Shinzo aboard the JS Kaga warship at the Yokosuka naval base. Both leaders expressed a commitment to expanding their nations' military ties. Japan recently announced a new multi-million dollar deal to buy high-end military equipment. President Trump took part in bilateral talks with Prime Minister Abe on Monday, during which he offered to help set up a face-to-face meeting between the Japanese and North Korean leaders.
