‘Good jobs’ available for teachers across the ditch: NZ Education Minister

A teacher recruitment drive in New Zealand has seen just ten Australian teachers make the move across the Tasman Sea. The country’s Ministry of Education wanted to recruit at least 400 overseas teachers to fill the shortage for this academic year, with just more than 240 recruited so far mostly from the United Kingdom and South Africa. Sky News has tracked one of the Australians who uprooted her life, explaining her motivation for the move across the ditch as an opportunity to ‘take some jumps professionally’. NZ Education Minister Chris Hipkins says he welcomes more teachers from Australia.
