Four killed, hundreds injured in Venezuelan protests

Four people have been killed and hundreds injured in protests across Venezuela as Opposition activists attempt to haul aid across government blockades and into the country. Pro-government troops have been seen firing tear gas at people scrambling across barricades to retrieve the supplies. At least 13 members of President Nicolas Maduro's security forces have abandoned their posts. President Maduro is being urged to stand down by a number of Western countries, including the United States and Australia, which recognise Opposition Leader Juan Guaido as the country’s legitimate leader.
