Sky News host Peta Credlin says the public service ‘should never’ have suggested the Anzac Day dawn service at Villers-Bretonneux in Northern France be scrapped, which drew more attendees than Gallipoli’s dawn service in 2018. The Department of Veterans' Affairs announced on Monday the service on the Western Front would be moved to ‘the more convenient time’ of 10am. Prime Minister Scott Morrison quickly reversed the decision, following criticism from ex-service organisations and the public in Australia. Ms Credlin says commemorating our war-dead on Anzac Day, and the key events and battles of military history, should be the role of the Australian War Memorial and not the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
