At least 100 people have died and more than 200 others are in hospital after drinking a toxic bootleg alcohol in India which causes organ failure. The victims are primarily labourers working in tea plantations in the country’s remote northeast, who can’t afford to buy brand name alcohol. It’s the second mass outbreak of alcohol poisoning within two weeks, and 12 people have been arrested over the illegal substance.
