Sri Lankan contractor charged over blueprint to attack ‘symbolic’ Sydney locations

A Sri Lankan contractor for the University of NSW has been charged with a terror offence following an investigation by the New South Wales Joint Counter Terrorism Team. Police allege they found documents on the campus which contained a plan to facilitate terror attacks on 'symbolic' locations across the city. Federal Police say they have seized a number of electronic items from the man's unit at Zetland in Sydney's inner-eastern suburbs. Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
