Melb archbishop confronted by mum of alleged abuse victim

August 30, 2018. New Melbourne Archbishop Peter Comensoli answers questions at his Melbourne Press Club address from a woman who alleges her daughter was raped by a Catholic priest. Lawyer for 93-year-old woman Dr Judy Courtin asks Comensoli whether he will meet with her client Eileen Piper to discuss the allegations. Piper stands to show a photo of her daughter in a coffin after she died in 1994. Comensoli walks into the audience to meet her and agrees to read a dossier concerning the allegations. Piper's 32-year-old daughter Stephanie killed herself the year after revealing she had been raped by Pallottine priest Gerard Mulvale as a teen. Police Detain Person at Moscow Memorial for Navalny

Police in Moscow were seen detaining at least one person at the “Wall of Grief,” a monument to victims of political persecution, where a vigil to Alexei Navalny was set up on Saturday, February 17. Video filmed by Russian media outlet SOTA shows police detaining one person near the monument and carrying them away. Navalny was reported dead by Russian Russian authorities on Friday, February 16. Authorities said the 47-year-old dissident fell ill and died in the prison colony where he was detained. According to Meduza, more than 150 people have been arrested at protests and gatherings in memory of Navalny across Russia. International media reported several journalists were arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg after Navalny’s death was announced.
