Health experts call on government to spend more on drug overdose prevention

Public health experts are calling for the government to increase spending on education and treatment programs that target drug overdoses. Penington Institute CEO John Ryan has told Sky News that pharmaceutical drugs are driving the epidemic, not illegal substances. Mr Ryan’s comments coincide with International Overdose Awareness Day, a global event designed to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding drug-related deaths in the community.
