Typhoon Jongdari Brings Extreme Winds to Tokyo

People struggled with their umbrellas as they attempted to shelter themselves from Typhoon Jongdari’s extreme winds and rain in Tokyo, Japan, on the night of Sunday, July 29, as shown in this video. In Honshu, at least 24 people were injured and thousands left without power as Jongdari passed through the western part of Japan’s main Island. In early July, Japan was ravaged by catastrophic floods. Authorities were concerned Jongdari would dramatically strain the already flood-hit regions and evacuated residents as a precaution. Japan Times said no injuries or damage was reported in these areas. The typhoon comes just days after a deadly heatwave killed at least 65 people. As of Monday, Jongdari was weakening as it moved across Kyushu island. Credit: Sabin.bar via Storyful
