Driver at Fault After Bus Crashes Into Milwaukee University Building

A Milwaukee bus driver failed to apply the brake and accidentally accelerated through an intersection into a Marquette University building, the Milwaukee County Transit System said on July 27 following an investigation into the crash. The MCTS also released footage of the incident, which occurred on May 15. In the video, the driver, Calvert Campbell, can be seen screaming as the bus careens into a building. Five passengers were on the bus at the time of the accident, the MCTS said, with Campbell and three passengers suffering injuries that were not life threatening. The MCTS said that prior to the accident, Campbell, 59, drove for 12 years without any accidents. As a result of the incident, he would be taken off the road for 6 months, during which time he would be part of the team that cleans the buses at night and fills them up with fuel, the MCTS said.
